ويجب على الجمعية العامة، بوصفها أكبر برلمان للأمم، أن تركز على النتائج التي توصلت إليها منظمة الصحة العالمية والتي تشير إلى أنه لئن كان قد أحرز تقدم رائع في مكافحة الملاريا، فإن الأخطار المحتملة التالية تتطلب إيلاء المزيد من الاهتمام: أولا، ظهور مقاومة للمبيدات الحشرية والعقاقير المضادة للملاريا وعدم وجود بدائل لها؛ ثانيا، الافتقار إلى التمويل الكافي للوصول إلى التغطية العالمية؛ ثالثا، ضعف القوة الشرائية والعرض على المستويين العالمي والدولي، وما ينتج عنه من نقص في مخزونات السلع الأساسية الرئيسية على المستوى الوطني وعلى مستوى المرافق الصحية.

The General Assembly, as the biggest parliament of nations, must focus on the findings of the World Health Organization that while there has been remarkable progress in malaria control, these potential threats demand increased attention: first, resistance to insecticides and antimalarial medicines and the lack of alternatives; second, insufficient funding to reach universal coverage; and third, weakness in global and intranational purchasing and supply, resulting in shortages of key commodities at the national and health facility levels.
