وفي 28 آب/أغسطس، رفع المحامون الذين يمثلون أسر الضحايا دعوى قضائية ضد الحكومة، متهمين إياها بالتشهير وانتهاك حرمة الحياة الخاصة لقيامها باتهام الضحايا زورا بالتحضير لشن انقلاب، وتسجيلها بطريقة غير مشروعة اتصالات سلكية ولاسلكية خاصة ذات صلة بمحاولة الانقلاب المزعومة.

On 28 August, lawyers representing the families of the victims filed a lawsuit against the Government, charging it with libel and violation of privacy for having falsely accused the victims of preparing a coup d’état and for having illegally recorded private telecommunications related to the alleged coup attempt.
