The National Anthem of the Republic of Colombia was first sung in public on November 11, 1887 in a small theatre at the Cathedral Public School.Its official inauguration took place the following month, on December 6,1887, at the Graduation Hall in front of the Palace of San Carlos.

El Himno Nacional fue dado a conocer públicamente el día 11 de noviembre de 1887 en un pequeño teatro de la escuela pública de la Catedral. Al mes siguiente, el 6 de diciembre de 1887, se llevó a cabo su solemne aparición oficial en el salón de grados, frente al Palacio de San Carlos.
