عند النظر إلي "البكرة" من الأمام أو الخلف فإن شكلها العام يبدو أسطواني تقريبا، ولكن عند النظر إليها من أسفل يظهر ميلانها الحقيقي وطبيعة ثلمها الحلزوني بشكل واضح.

When viewed from in front or behind, the trochlea looks roughly cylindrical, but when viewed from below its true oblique shape and the spiralling nature of its groove become apparent.
