This has been pointed put brilliantly by the Nigerian political scientist Claude Aké in his book The Feasibility of Democracy in Africa, (Dakar,CODESRIA,2000), , in which he denounces the irrelevance and emptiness of the liberal democracy adopted by african governments - with great degree of international support (or pressure) - and contrasts this with the social democracy - guaranteeing not only political, but also economic rights - trully necessary, and for which the majority of the population fights.

Este punto ha sido argumentado con brillantez por el politólogo nigeriano Claude Aké en su libro The Feasibility of Democracy in Africa, (Dakar,CODESRIA,2000), en el que denuncia la irrelevancia y falsedad de las reformas en favor de democracia liberal adoptadas por los gobiernos africanos - con un gran apoyo (o presión) internacional - y contrasta éstas con la democracia social - que garantice no sólo los derechos políticos sino también socioeconómicos - verdaderamente necesaria en África, y por el que lucha la mayoría de la población.
