ومتطلبات نقل المواد المشعة منصوص عليها في المدونة البحرية الدولية للبضائع الخطرة والمدونة الدولية لسلامة نقل الوقود النووي المستنفد والبلوتونيوم والنفايات شديدة الإشعاع على متن السفن، وكلاهما إلزامي بموجب الاتفاقية الدولية لحماية الأرواح في البحر وأنظمة الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية للنقل المأمون للمواد المشعة.

Carriage requirements for radioactive material are set out in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code and the International Code for the Safe Carriage of Packaged Irradiated Nuclear Fuel, Plutonium and High Level Radioactive Wastes on Board Ships, which are both mandatory under SOLAS, and the IAEA Regulations for Safe Transport of Radioactive Material.
