ففي الأيام التي سبقت وصوله إلى الإقليم الغربي في كينيا، طلب ممثلو السلطات إلى الأفراد ألاّ يتحدثوا مع المقرِّر الخاص بشأن الاعتداءات التي ترتكبها قوات الشرطة والجيش، وألاّ يذكُروا من الاعتداءات سوى تلك التي ترتكبها مجموعة مسلحة تُدْعى "قوة ساباؤوت للدفاع عن الأرض".

In the days preceding the arrival of the Special Rapporteur in Kenya’s Western Province, representatives of the authorities told individuals not to speak with the Special Rapporteur about police and military abuses, and only to mention abuses by an armed group, the Sabaot Land Defence Force.
