The present invention relates to a guide wire of a catheter intended for being inserted into the vascular system of a patient during an intervention procedure, the guide wire including: a flexible wire core (2) extending longitudinally; and an activable stiffening element (3) including at least first and second electrically conductive terminals, the activable stiffening element extending around the core of the flexible wire, the application of an electric voltage between the first and second terminals of the stiffening element inducing a variation in the flexibility of the guide wire between a first flexural rigidity value and a second flexural rigidity value which is higher than the first flexural rigidity value

La présente invention concerne un fil de guidage d'un cathéter destiné à être introduit à l'intérieur du système vasculaire d'un patient durant une procédure interventionnelle, le fil de guidage comportant - un cœur de fil (2) flexible s'étendant longitudinalement, - un élément raidisseur (3) activable incluant au moins des première et deuxième bornes électriquement conductrices, l'élément raidisseur activable s'étendant autour du cœur de fil flexible, l'application d'une tension électrique entre les première et deuxième bornes de l'élément raidisseur induisant une variation de la flexibilité du fil de guidage entre une première valeur de rigidité à la flexion et une deuxième valeur de rigidité à la flexion supérieure à la première valeur de rigidité à la flexion.
