In the 2014–15 season the club played in Serie B for the sixth time in its history. The club earned its first promotion to the top flight Serie A in the 2015–16 season, but were relegated back down to Serie B after just one season. In the 2018–19 season it was promoted to Serie A for a second time.

De club werd opgericht in 1928 en speelde in de lagere reeksen. In 1990 miste de club net promotie naar de Serie C1 en werd later opgeheven wegens financiële problemen. In 1991 werd de club heropgericht en startte in de Serie D. Na het seizoen 1993/94 promoveert de club naar de Serie C2 omdat er plaatsen waren vrijgekomen.
