I det område, jeg kommer fra, som er et lille øområde med subtropiske klimaforhold i en del af landbrugsområdet, har banandyrkning en særlig stor betydning, ikke alene fordi der findes 8.000 producenter og en årlig høst på over flere 10.000 tons, som svarer til 20 % af bruttolandbrugsproduktet, men også på grund af de smukke bananplantagers landskabsmæssige værdi, som øger områdets betydning som turistmål.

In meiner kleinen Inselregion, wo in den Agrargebieten teilweise subtropisches Klima herrscht, ist der Bananenanbau von besonderer Bedeutung. Das ergibt sich nicht nur aus der Tatsache, daß die mehr als 8.000 Erzeuger eine jährliche Ernte von etlichen zehntausend Tonnen einbringen, was ungefähr 20 % des Bruttoagrarprodukts entspricht, sondern auch aus dem landschaftlichen Wert der reizvollen Bananenplantagen, der die touristische Attraktivität dieser Region deutlich erhöht.

Στην περιοχή μου, μικρή και νησιωτική, με υποτροπικά κλιματικά χαρακτηριστικά σε ένα μέρος της γεωργικής ζώνης της, η καλλιέργεια της μπανάνας έχει ιδιαίτερη σπουδαιότητα, όχι μόνο λόγω του ότι αφορά πάνω από 8.000 παραγωγούς και μία ετήσια συγκομιδή πάνω από μερικές δεκάδες χιλιάδες τόννους, που αντιπροσωπεύουν περίπου το 20 % του ακαθάριστου γεωργικού προϊόντος, αλλά επίσης λόγω της τοπιογραφικής αξίας των όμορφων φυτειών, που ευνοεί σαφώς την τουριστική ικανότητα της περιοχής.

In my small island region, with a sub-tropical climate in part of its growing area, banana farming is of particular importance, not only because it involves over 8000 producers and an annual crop running into tens of thousands of tonnes, 20 % of the farming GDP, but also because the attractive plantations enhance the landscape, which attracts tourists to Madeira.
