Indem wir im Bereich so vieler verschiedener Kulturen, so vieler Künste und Wissenschaften mit ihnen in Kontakt bleiben, lernen wir die Wahrheit über den Menschen (die auf solch eindrucksvolle Weise auch im Psalm 8 ausgedrückt ist), eine Wahrheit, die imstande ist, das Menschsein in jedem von uns zu formen und zu vertiefen.

Through contact with people on the level of so many different cultures, of so many arts and sciences, we learn the truth about man (so evocatively expressed also in Psalm 8), the truth which can build up and enrich the humanity of each one of us.
