This GREEN FISHERY yielded a shorter-lived product more suited to home use than distant travel, but it allowed the French to get the fish to markets faster than the English, and to return to the banks more than once in a season.

Ce poisson salé « en vert » (voir PÊCHE « VERTE ») se conserve moins longtemps et supporte donc moins bien les voyages sur de longues distances, mais cette méthode de traitement permet aux pêcheurs français de livrer le poisson sur les marchés plus rapidement que les Anglais et de retourner sur les bancs plus d'une fois par saison.
