Bei der Entstehung des preisgekrönten Dokumentarfilms Skid Row Marathon, der die Geschichte eines Richters aus Los Angeles erzählt, der einen Laufclub in einem Obdachlosenbezirk gründet, hat Planert als Associate Producer mitgewirkt und die Musik BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra und dem Scottish Ensemble zusammen, wirkte als Tontechniker und Produzent und nahm über 40 Alben sowie die Musik für zahlreiche Filme auf, darunter American Cousins, The Bone Collector und die Fernsehsendung Crowdie + Cream, die mit mehreren BAFTAs, u.a. für den Besten Soundtrack ausgezeichnet wurde.

For Skid Row Marathon, a feature length documentary following the story of a Los Angeles judge who starts a running club on Skid Row, Planert worked as associate producer and composed the music, for which he received several awards. Before moving to Los Angeles, he lived in the UK where he collaborated with among others Craig Armstrong, Capercaillie, Secret Garden, John McLaughlin (FIVE), BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Scottish Ensemble and worked as sound engineer and producer on more than 40 albums and soundtracks for films such as American Cousins, The Bone Collector, and the TV show Crowdie + Cream, which won several BAFTAs including the award for "Best Soundtrack".
