Undoubtedly, the Left SRs succeeded in concentrating considerable forces almost without the Soviet power noticing, but these forces proved to be fictitious. When our comrades who were arrested – Dzerzhinsky, Latsis, Smidovich – got into conversation with the Left SR detachment that was guarding them, it became clear to them that a considerable part of this detachment was, in feeling and mood, on the side of the Soviet power – that the men were confused and did not know what it was all about, and when the arrested comrades openly and courageously explained the situation to them, they went over to our comrades’ side, laid down their arms, and said: ‘You can leave.’

Es indudable que los SR de izquierda, de manera casi inadvertida por el poder soviético, concentraron fuerzas importantes, pero estas fuerzas resultaron ficticias. Cuando nuestros camaradas detenidos -Dzerjinski, Latsis, Smidovich- entraron en relación con el destacamento de SR de izquierda que los guardaba, quedó claro para ellos que una parte importante del mismo estaba -por sus sentimientos, su estado de ánimo- al lado del poder soviético. Eran hombres desorientados, que no sabían de qué se trataba, y cuando los camaradas detenidos les explicaron con franqueza y valentía cuál era la situación, el destacamento se puso a su lado, depuso las armas y les dijeron: pueden irse.
