لقد لعبت المرأة دوراً مركزياً في الجهود السابقة، مثل الحملة المتعلقة بحظر الألغام الأرضية المضادة للأفراد ضمن نطاق الأسلحة الصغيرة والخفيفة، والآن فيما يتعلق بالذخائر العنقودية، كما رأينا دورها في الحركات المناهضة للأسلحة النووية والتي نُظمت في السابق وجهودها لجعل أمن البشرية محوراً لجهودنا.

Women have played a central part in past efforts, such as the campaign to ban anti-personnel landmines within the area of small arms and light weapons, and now with regard to cluster munitions, and we have also seen their role in the anti-nuclear movements of the past and their effort to put human security at the centre of our efforts.
