The sterilization method disclosed includes the steps of providing a sterilization chamber; placing the article into the sterilization chamber; sealing the sterilization chamber; applying a vacuum of a preselected vacuum pressure to the sterilization chamber; supplying water vapour to the sterilization chamber under vacuum; supplying ozone-containing gas to the sterilization chamber; maintaining the sterilization chamber sealed for a preselected treatment period; and releasing the vacuum in the sterilization chamber, whereby a vacuum pressure is used which lowers the boiling temperature of water in the sterilization chamber below the temperature in the sterilization chamber.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de stérilisation qui, après mise en place d'une enceinte de stérilisation, consiste à placer un article dan cette enceinte, à fermer de manière étanche l'enceinte, à la mettre sous vide à une pression prédéterminée, à alimenter l'enceinte sous vide en vapeur d'eau puis en gaz contenant de l'ozone, à maintenir étanche l'enceinte durant une période de traitement prédéterminée, et à faire remonter la pression dans l'enceinte de stérilisation. Dans ce procédé on utilise un vide permettant d'abaisser le point d'ébullition de l'eau à une température inférieure à celle régnant dans l'enceinte.
