Die Sonde des Mackay-Marg-Tonometers (MMT) wurde in ein Kontaktglas so eingebaut, daß nach Aufsetzen des Kontaktglases die Papille durch das Mikroskop der Spaltlampe beobachtet werden kann und die Fußplatte der Tonometersonde der nasalen peripheren Hornhaut zur Gänze aufliegt, während der Augendruck durch dosierte Kompression des Bulbus erhöht werden kann.

The probe of the Mackay-Marg tonometer (MMT) was adjusted to a contact lens in such a manner, that applied to the patient's eye the optic disc could be properly observed through the slitlamp microscope, whereas the footplate of the MMT-probe was fully in touch with the nasal part of patient's cornea and the intraocular tension could be raised by pressure on the sclera.
