Provided are: a chromene compound represented by formula (1) (herein, the 11-position substituent (R3) is a sulfur-containing second substituent selected from a group consisting of a thiol group, an alkylthio group, a cycloalkylthio group, an arylthio group, a heteroarylthio group, a sulfonyl group, a sulfinyl group, or the like; and the 6-position or 7-position substituent (R1 and R2) are a combination of an aryl group or a heteroaryl group and an electron-releasing group having a Hammett number (σp) of -0.1 or less, or R1 and/or R2 are/is a sulfur-containing first substituent selected from a thiol group, an alkylthio group, a cycloalkylthio group, an arylthio group, a heteroarylthio group, or the like); and a photochromic curable composition containing the chromene compound and a polymerizable monomer.
