The Special Rapporteur was also told, both in Gorkha and at the Central Hospital in Kathmandu, that autopsies were as a rule not carried out by the pathologists or medical professionals themselves, but by peons (office attendants) or cleaners who would perform the dissection under the supervision of a physician.
