A gamma ray detector comprises a detector crystal (22); a photomultiplier tube (23); a &KHgr;/&ggr; ray shielding body (26), said &KHgr;/&ggr; ray shielding body (26) at least surrounds the circumference surface (32) of said detector crystal (22), and exposes the front end side (30) of said detector crystal (22); a neutron shielding body (28), said neutron shielding body (28) is located at the outside of said &KHgr;/&ggr; ray shielding body (26), and at least surrounds the circumference surface (32) of said detector crystal (22), and exposes the front end side (30) of said detector crystal (22).

Selon l'invention, un détecteur de rayons gamma comprend un cristal de détection (22), un tube photomultiplicateur (23), un corps protégeant des rayons &KHgr;/&ggr; (26), ledit corp (26) entourant au moins la surface de circonférence (32) du cristal de détection (22) et exposant l'extrémité avant (30) du cristal de détection (22), ainsi qu'un coprs protégeant des neutrons (28), ledit corps (28) se trouvant à l'extérieur du corps protégeant des rayons &KHgr;/&ggr; (26), et entourant au moins la surface de circonférence (32) du cristal de détection (22) et exposant l'extrémité avant (30) du cristal de détection (22).
