Whilst the International Society of Lymphology and Specialized Societies use the following terms and abbreviations to designate treatment: Combined physical therapy (CPT), Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) or Complex Decongestive Physiotherapy (CDP), which all describe the same Gold Standard treatment backed by long-standing experience, some organizations are now using the following modified term to describe treatment: “Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy (DLT)”

Mientras que la Sociedad Internacional de Linfología y sociedades especializadas, utilizan los siguientes términos para designar el Tratamiento Intensivo: Terapia Descongestiva Completa(TDC), Terapia Compleja Descongestiva(TCD) o Terapia Física Compleja(TFC), los cuales todos describen por igual el tratamiento por Excelencia y respaldado por una larga experiencia, algunas organizaciones están ahora utilizando el siguiente término y abreviatura modificadas para describir el tratamiento: “Terapia Descongestiva del Linfedema (TDL)”.
