Οι μη παραγωγικές εγκαταστάσεις που λειτουργούν σε ύδατα της Ένωσης πληρούν τις απαιτήσεις των σχετικών διεθνών συμβάσεων, όπως ορίζεται στον κανονισμό (ΕΚ) αριθ. 391/2009 του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου και του Συμβουλίου της 23ης Απριλίου 2009[22] ή στον κώδικα για την κατασκευή και τον εξοπλισμό κινητών μονάδων γεώτρησης ανοιχτής θάλασσας (Κώδικας MODU 2009).
