The start of Astra was the camp founded by the Astra Argentina Oil Trade Union around the first exploratory well that it tested in Lot 138 of Colonia Bóers, or Escalante, on lands belonging to the Du Plessis family, after having obtained 30 June 1912 the corresponding permit.

El inicio de Astra fue el campamento fundado por el Sindicato Petrolífero Astra Argentina en torno al primer pozo exploratorio que ensayó en el Lote 138 de la Colonia Bóers, o Escalante, en tierras pertenecientes a la familia Du Plessis, después de haber obtenido el 30 de junio de 1912 el permiso correspondiente.
