I forbindelse med produktionsstrukturerne og arbejdets organisering - et aspekt, som Det OEkonomiske og Sociale Udvalg behandler med saerlig opmaerksomhed - opererer de mest avancerede virksomheder med saakaldte elementaere teknologiske enheder, der er et udtryk for fleksibel produktion og teamwork omkring aktiviteter, som tidligere var hierarkisk opdelte.
