Section::::Earliest literary sources. In his description of Scandza (from the 6th-century work, "Getica"), the ancient writer Jordanes says that the Dani were of the same stock as the "Suetidi" (Swedes, "Suithiod"?) and expelled the Heruli and took their lands.
