I cannot begin my statement without thanking the Secretary-General and the staff of the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea for the comprehensive and instructive reports on oceans and the law of the sea ( # ) and sustainable fisheries ( # ), which present a complete picture of recent developments in the situation in those areas and provide an essential context for our consideration of this agenda item
