ルーパの残量が減少してもストリップ材の適切な加熱を極力継続しながら、ルーパの残量がなくなって加熱炉を停止する際には炉温を安全温度以下に確実に低下できる連続加熱装置は、燃焼区分のそれぞれについて、ルーパが調節できるストリップ材の長さの残量を加熱炉におけるストリップ材の搬送速度で除した余裕時間が所定の設定時間以上であれば、当該燃焼区分の内部温度が予め設定された設定温度になるように当該燃焼区分の燃焼量を調節し、余裕時間が設定時間以下であれば、当該燃焼区分の燃焼量を余裕時間に対する所定のプロファイルで変化させる。
