In an attempt to obstruct the completely justified protests of European producers against this misleading use of designations of origin, a group of American entrepreneurs established the CCFN (Consortium for Common Food Names) with the purpose of defending the marketing of Wisconsin Asiago cheese, Parmesan, Brie or Camembert, for example, and thereby hindering protection of European products on the American market.
