প্রাথমিক পরিকল্পনাটি এই রাস্তাকে ৮-লেনে বিস্তৃত করা, তবে পরবর্তীতে এটি একটি ৪-লেন বিশিষ্ট এলিলেটেড এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে নির্মাণের জন্য পরিবর্তিত হয়। ২৮ অক্টোবরে প্রকল্পটি সম্পন্ন করার লক্ষ্যে অক্টোবর ২০০৫ সালে নির্মাণ শুরু হয়। কিন্তু আর্থিক সমস্যাগুলির কারণে, নির্মাণ কাজে বিলম্ব হয় এবং ১৯ অক্টোবর ২০০৯ সালে খোলা হয়। এক্সপ্রেসওয়ে আরম্ভ হয় মেহেদিপত্তনমের কাছে সরোজিনী দেবী আই হসপিটাল থেকে এবং আরামগড়ের কাছাকাছিএনএইচ ৪৪ -এর সঙ্গে মিশে গেছে। মোট নুমানিকখ রচ ৪০০ ক োটি টাকা হলেও ৫বর্ধিত খরচ ০০ কোটি টাকা।

The initial plan was to widen this road to 8-lane, but was later changed to construct a 4-Lane elevated expressway. The construction began in October 2005, with an intention to complete the project in 28 months. But due to the financial difficulties, the construction work was dragged and was opened on October 19th 2009. The Expressway starts at Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in Mehdipatnam and merges with NH44 near Aramghar. The total cost was estimated to be 400 crores INR but later extended to 500 crores INR.
