The lithium titanate is produced by the following steps (1)-(3). (1) a step in which titanyl sulfate or titanium sulfate is thermally hydrolyzed to produce metatitanic acid; (2) a step in which a slurry containing the metatitanic acid is prepared, and the slurry, subsequent to neutralization to bring the pH to 6.0-9.0, undergoes solid-liquid separation, to produce a metatitanic acid-containing titanium starting material having a BET specific surface area of 100-400 m2/g, and in which the sulfuric acid (SO4) content is 0.01-2.0 mass% with respect to the amount of metatitanic acid, on a TiO2-converted basis; and (3) a step in which the titanium starting material and a lithium compound are mixed and baked.

Le titanate de lithium est produit par les étapes (1) à (3) suivantes : (1) une étape dans laquelle du sulfate de titanyle ou sulfate de titane est thermiquement hydrolysé pour produire de l'acide métatitanique ; (2) une étape dans laquelle une suspension épaisse contenant l'acide métatitanique est préparée et la suspension épaisse, après neutralisation pour amener le pH à 6,0-9,0, subit une séparation solide-liquide, pour produire une matière de départ au titane contenant de l'acide métatitanique ayant une surface spécifique BET de 200 à 400 m2/g et dans laquelle la teneur en acide sulfurique (SO4) est de 0,01-2,0 % en masse, par rapport à la quantité d'acide métatitanique, exprimée en termes de TiO2 ; et (3) une étape dans laquelle la matière de départ au titane et un composé du lithium sont mélangés et cuits.
