Liranaftate es un nuevo rey de los antifúngicos de ditiocarbamato de tercera generación, es un nuevo tipo de la tercera categoría de productos químicos, pertenece a los inhibidores de la ciclooxigenasa de escualeno, al inhibir la reacción de epoxidación de escualeno de la membrana de las células fúngicas, dificulta la síntesis de ergosterol que es constituyente de las membranas celulares, desempeña el papel de antifúngico, su actividad antifúngica es 8 veces de tolnaftate y su efecto dermatofítico es mejor que el clotrimazol.
