Es entstand im Umfeld der Universität und der Klinik innerhalb des Stadtwaldes (Nagyerdő = Großer Wald) ein Zentrum für Erholung, Sport und Bildung. Die 1927 gegründete Sommeruniversität bot in dieser Hinsicht ein Programm an Allgemeinbildung, Weiterbildung und Sprachbildung an, kombiniert mit Erholung, Freizeit- und Sportprogramm.
