وكما ورد في التقييم الدولي للمعارف والعلوم و التكنولوجيا الزراعية من أجل التنمية، فإن نسبة النساء اللاتي يعملن في الإنتاج الزراعي وأنشطة ما بعد الحصاد تتراوح بين 20 و 70 في المائة، وإن نسبة مشاركتهن آخذة في الازدياد في العديد من البلدان النامية، وخاصة في تنمية الزراعة المروية لأغراض التصدير، التي ترتبط بتزايد الطلب على اليد العاملة من الإناث، بمن فيهن العاملات المهاجرات.

As noted by the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development, the proportion of women in agricultural production and post-harvest activities ranges from 20 to 70 per cent, and their involvement is increasing in many developing countries, particularly with the development of export-oriented irrigated farming, which is associated with a growing demand for female labour, including migrant workers.
