The method comprises the steps of contacting a composition comprising a glycoprotein, wherein the glycoprotein comprises 0-linked oligosaccharides, with a solution comprising a borane-ammonia complex to form a mixture comprising the glycoprotein and the borane-ammonia complex, incubating the mixture for a period of time sufficient to cleave the linked oligosaccharides from the glycoprotein, and forming a mixture comprising oligosaccharide alditol products and deglycosylated protein by-products.

Le procédé consiste à mettre en contact une composition comprenant une glycoprotéine, laquelle renferme des oligosaccharides à liaison O, avec une solution comprenant un complexe borane-ammoniac pour former un mélange contenant la glycoprotéine et le complexe borane-ammoniac, à incuber ledit mélange suffisamment longtemps pour cliver les oligosaccharides liés à partir de la glycoprotéine, et à former un mélange comprenant des produits d'alditol d'oligosaccharides et des sous-produits protéiques déglycosylés.
