In West Africa, the forest dependent duikers have become increasingly vulnerable to hunting due to loss of suitable habitats, for example, populations of Jentink’s duiker (Cephalophus jentinki) and zebra duiker (C. zebra), which are both listed in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (Hilton-Taylor 2000), are now restricted to only few forest blocks within their small natural range in the Upper Guinea forest.
