Érthető, hogy ez cseppet sem tetszett neki, hiszen a püspök leghívebb embere volt, s nagyon felháborította, hogy Jeanne e két kiváló angol főnemes jelenlétében gyanúsítja gazdáját, akit ezek menten tönkretennének, ha megbizonyosodnának felőle, hogy képes lenne megmérgezni Jeanne-t, s ezzel megmenteni őt a máglyától - megfosztván őket mindattól a haszontól, melynek reményében megvették őt Burgundia hercegétől.
