وفي هذا الصدد تود دولة الكويت أن تشير إلى مبادرة صاحب السمو أمير دولة الكويت الشيخ جابر الأحمد الصباح الذي أصدر أمرا أميريا بمنح المرأة كامل حقوقها السياسية فيما يتعلق بالانتخاب والترشيح للمجالس النيابية، صدر في ضوئه المرسوم بالقانون رقم 9/1999 بتاريخ 12 أيار/مايو 1999.

In this connection, it would like to mention the initiative of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who issued an Amiral decree granting women their full political rights to vote and stand as candidates for election to parliamentary councils, in the light of which Legislative Decree No. 9/1999 was promulgated on 12 May 1999.

A este respecto, desearía mencionar la iniciativa de Su Alteza el Emir de Kuwait, Jeque Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, que dictó un Decreto del Emir por el que se otorgaba a las mujeres la plenitud de los derechos políticos a votar y ser candidatas a la elección para los consejos parlamentarios, en virtud del cual el 12 de mayo de 1999 se promulgó el Decreto Legislativo N° 9/1999.
