The representative of Brazil noted that, through the new country programme, UNICEF would support national efforts to strengthen policies aimed at the protection of children and adolescents; the prevention of and response to violence; and the civic engagement of youth in the decision-making process, taking into account the need to combat discrimination against girls, people of African descent, indigenous peoples and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex persons.

El representante del Brasil observó que, mediante el nuevo programa para el país, el UNICEF apoyaría las medidas nacionales encaminadas a fortalecer las políticas orientadas a la protección de los niños y los adolescentes; la prevención de la violencia y la respuesta ante ella; y el compromiso cívico de los jóvenes en el proceso de adopción de decisiones, teniendo en cuenta la necesidad de combatir la discriminación contra las niñas, los afrodescendientes, los pueblos indígenas y las personas lesbianas, gais, bisexuales, transgénero e intersexuales.
