وبالنظر إلى التحديات العديدة لتنفيذ هدف مؤتمر القمة العالمي للأغذية، وهو الهدف المتمثل في تخفيض عدد المصابين بسوء التغذية إلى النصف بحلول عام 2015، فمن المحتم أن تتوقف الاتجاهات الحالية صوب التصحر وتدهور الأرض وينعكس مسارها من خلال المساعدة المالية الضرورية ونقل التكنولوجيا.

Given the many challenges in the implementation of the World Food Summit goal of halving the number of undernourished people by the year 2015, it is imperative that the current trends towards desertification and land degradation be arrested and reversed through the necessary financial assistance and transfer of technology.
