Unlike in the case of the thrombin/fibrinogen enzyme preparation, trans-glutaminase is placed on the market under national legislation as a processing aid and an official request for an authorisation as a food additive has never been submitted to the Commission Following the resolution of 19 May of the Parliament which opposed the authorisation of the thombin/fibrinogen enzyme preparation in meat preparations and meat products, the Commission is planning to collect economic data and information on the current conditions of use of this processing aid.

In tegenstelling tot het enzympreparaat thrombine/fibrinogeen wordt transglutaminase onder de nationale wetgeving op de markt gebracht als technische hulpstof, en is bij de Commissie nooit enig verzoek om een vergunning voor transglutaminase als levensmiddelenadditief ingediend. Na de resolutie van het Parlement van 19 mei, dat niet wil toestaan dat het enzympreparaat thrombine/fibrinogeen in vleesbereidingen en vleesproducten wordt gebruikt, is de Commissie voornemens economische gegevens en informatie in te zamelen over de omstandigheden waarin deze technische hulpstof momenteel wordt gebruikt.
