La génération in situ du p-nitrophényl cétène, par la réaction du chlorure de p-nitrophénylacétyle avec la triéthylamine en présence de tétraéthoxyéthylène dans l'éther anhydre, conduit à une cycloaddition (2 + 2) du cétène et de l'oléfine riche en électrons.
