The measurement is obtained by a process of extracting the metal shaving which assures the elimination of most of the superficial defects of the material laminated in hot. These defects can be more or less deep rays, small parts, non cylindrical sections, cracks on the surface, pores, of carburations that thermally treated steels have, etc.
