It is considered one of the most historic stadiums in Greece, as it was used by the Greek national team as home ground for many years (most recently for the UEFA Euro 2004 qualifying matches) and even by Panathinaikos' biggest rivals, AEK Athens and Olympiacos, on various occasions.
