The present invention relates to a high voltage anode active material and to a lithium secondary battery including same and, more particularly, to an anode active material comprising: spinel-shaped compound particles having a structure represented by chemical formula 1; and a metal oxide or a metal hydroxide on the surfaces of the spinel-shaped compound particles, and to a lithium secondary battery including the anode active material.
