في حزيران/يونيه 1974، اختُطف شقيقان في اليابان، وبعد مرور حوالي 30 سنة تبيَّن في هذا الصدد من خلال تحقيقات الشرطة أن الشخص المشتبه فيه في قضية الاختطاف عضو في منظمة فرعية للرابطة العامة للكوريين المقيمين في اليابان (”شونغريون“؛ وهي المنظمة الجامعة للكوريين المقيمين في اليابان الذين لهم ارتباط وثيق بجمهورية كوريا الشعبية الديمقراطية).

In June 1974, two siblings in Japan were abducted and in this connection about 30 years later, it turned out in the police investigation that the person suspected in the abduction case was a member of a subsidiary organization of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (“Chongryon”; the umbrella organization of Korean residents in Japan with close association with the DPRK).
