A diaphragm gas meter (4) using the above mentioned method and including a measuring vessel (12) with an inlet and outlet branch, a gastight coupling to an external measuring wheel (16) which is adapted for interacting with a counter (14) showing the gas consumption, where the external measuring wheel (16) is provided with a Gray-code disc (18), where the counter is constituted by an electronic counter (14) including opto-electronic means (23, 25) which are adapted for detecting and registering rotation of the Gray-code disc (18), and a display (26) showing the gas consumption or an equivalent value, e.g. energy in kWh.

L'invention concerne également un débitmètre (4) à diaphragme pour gaz utilisant le procédé susmentionné et comprenant un récipient (12) de mesure muni d'une branche d'entrée et de sortie, d'un raccord étanche au gaz vers une roue (16) de mesure externe adaptée pour interagir avec un compteur (14) affichant la consommation de gaz, la roue (16) de mesure externe étant pourvue d'un disque (18) à code Gray, le compteur étant constitué d'un compteur (14) électronique comprenant des moyens (23, 25) optoélectroniques adaptés pour détecter et enregistrer la rotation du disque (18) à code Gray et d'un affichage (26) présentant la consommation de gaz ou une valeur équivalente, par ex. l'énergie en kWh.
