For the same reasons it was also used for military logistics by the knights of Calatrava during the Reconquest of Spain. This bread later came to be used in other ways: it was either eaten directly in certain dishes and stews or served as an accompaniment to other dishes. In this way, its use spread to other areas of the province of Ciudad Real.

De ahí que los antiguos labriegos y pastores de la zona, utilizaran este tipo de pan en sus largas permanencias en el campo, siendo adoptado por su utilidad por los caballeros calatravos en su logística militar durante la Reconquista, extendiéndose posteriormente a otras formas de utilización gastronómica, bien mediante consumo directo en platos y guisos, o bien como acompañante de otros platos, difundiéndose su consumo a otros ámbitos de la provincia de Ciudad Real.

Dlatego też dawni robotnicy rolni i pasterze używali tego rodzaju chleba podczas długotrwałego przebywania na polach i pastwiskach, a następnie chleb ten ze względu na swoją przydatność został zaadoptowany przez rycerzy z zakonu Calatrava dla potrzeb ich logistyki militarnej podczas Rekonkwisty, później zaś jego wykorzystanie zostało rozszerzone o inne sposoby zastosowania w gastronomii, czy to do bezpośredniej konsumpcji w potrawach, czy jako dodatek do innych dań, co spowodowało rozprzestrzenienie się jego spożycia w innych środowiskach prowincji Ciudad Real.
