Le 27 janvier 1932, le préfet invoquant des méprises administratives consécutives à la pluralité des Arros dans le département, (Arros canton de Nay, Arros canton d'Oloron) décidait d'associer le nom du chef-lieu de canton à celui de la commune et demandait au conseil municipal d'entériner sa décision.
