"Panther" es fa servir en algunes parts d'Amèrica del Nord per a referir-se al puma (Puma concolor), i a Amèrica del Sud per referir-se al Jaguar (Panthera onca) i a tot arreu per a fer referència als Leopards (Panthera pardus).
