وثمة سرد مختصر للقضايا والآراء المتعلقة بالمزايا النسبية للنهج السوقية والنهج غير السوقية لتلبية الاحتياجات الاجتماعية، لا سيما لضمان تلبية الاحتياجات الأساسية للجميع. ويلي هذا السرد استعراض لطريقة وسبب تأرجح المؤشر ما بين تحبيذ نهج وآخر.

A brief recapitulation of the issues involved and the views on the relative merits of market and non-market approaches to meeting social needs, particularly for ensuring that the basic needs of all are met, is followed by a review of how and why the pendulum has swung from favouring the one and then the other approach.
